Hiking
The Gabriola Land & Trails Trust are committed to preserving and enhancing the trail system on Gabriola Island.
Gabriola Island offers numerous hiking trails that are short or long, easy or challenging. Some of the better hiking trails are the Gabriola Sands Provincial Park to Orlebar Point, Malaspina Galleries to Twin Beaches, Drumbeg Provincial Park Trail and the Descanso Bay Park Trail. The newest is the 707 acre wood, a newly designated (2005) undeveloped community park in the center of the island.
The closest hiking to Page’s Resort is Drumbeg Provincial Park which is an easy ½ hour walk from the resort to the 20 hectare park entrance where there are over 2 Km of easy hiking trails and a 1 Km long beach.
On the north side of Gabriola is Sandwell Provincial Park, a 12 hectare park comprising of a long sandy beach in Lock Bay and forested hiking trails that follows the shoreline.
Another favourite is Gabriola Sands Provincial Park on the northwest tip of the island. This 6 hectare park offers two sandy beaches, a picnic area and a shoreline of giant limestone rock formations.
These day use parks are perfect for beach combing, bird watching, picnicking, swimming and sightseeing.
And there are many more trails available. We will be happy to provide guide maps and help you plan your hiking adventure.
